This is our 2nd visit to Ivy’s Kitchen, since our first visit there sometime ago. This round, we were warmly introduced to their ala-carte menu. It is undeniable that Ivy’s Kitchen serves good and high quality food; ranges from hawker delight, seafood, set meals to fancy dinner.
The following ala-carte dishes are served together with plain rice. It is certainly the right choice for those who opt for fancy luncheon or dinner.
The Tofu Soup with Seaweed RM 10
It comes with tofu, mustard (so called Choy Sum in Cantonese), fish ball, minced chicken meat, small prawns and seaweed. In addition, the added of garlic oil gives the soup a tastefulness taste.
Bitter Gourd with Bean Paste RM 8
Kailan Sambal RM 8
2 types of vegetables Bitter Gourd with Bean Paste and Kailan Sambal were served to us during the session. I personally find that the Kailan Sambal is special as Ivy used Kailan instead of Kangkung that is so common to us. Besides, she even used the homemade sambal paste that brings out the specialty of this dish.
Joo Hoo Char RM 10
This is one of the famous Nyonya specialty. The combination of shredded turnip and the cuttlefish was tastefully done. It is nice to be eaten together with lettuce wrap.
Chicken Lobak RM 6
This side dish tasted so good; we highly recommend you to order this dish. The Assam Prawn RM 8
It was well-seasoned with the “Assam” paste and the taste is so sweet and tasty.Curry Assam Fish RM 7 per 100 gram
This is best to be served together with rice. The spiciness and tastiness of the curry is well balanced with the additional of tomatoes and ladies fingers. The fish that was served is “Tenggiri”. However, customer may request for the following choices based on the catch of the day.
“Tenggiri” – RM 7 per 100 gram
“Senangin” – RM 8 per 100 gram
Black Pomfret – RM 9 per 100 gram
Silver Pomfret – RM 11 per 100 gram
Chili Crab RM 30 per 600 gram
This portion can serve for 2 to 3 persons. According to Mr. Tan, Ivy created this home-cooked sauce from crashed chilies, eggs, unions and ginger. The sweet taste of the crab combined well with the sauce. This is indeed a satisfying and tempting ala carte item for me.
