Nasi Dagang Jalan Post Office Lama Kota Bharu

Posted by Food Promotions On Tuesday, September 29, 2009 0 comments
There is a great variety of delicious food in Kelantan. One of them to share, is the famous Nasi Dagang. Some from the West Coast claim that Nasi Dagang is in fact “nasi lemak” of the East Coast, in the states of Kelantan, as well as Terengganu.

At the junction of Jalan Post Office Lama, there is a coffee shop by the name of Restoran Kwang Ling, selling Nasi Dagang, which was once introduced 阿贤 (A Xian), the Astro food show host.

Nasi Dagang (or Nasi Dagae in Kelantanese), means “Trader’s Rice” is a special type of reddish brown tinge steamed with coconut milk.

It is served with ikan tongkol (fish curry) most frequently, together with half hard boiled egg, crispy fried salted fish, cucumber and some chili paste.

Other dishes available such as the daging kerutuk (juicy, tender beef pieces), prawns and gulai ayam (chicken curry). Price range from RM 3.50 to RM 5.00 depending on choice of dishes.

If you are planning to visit Kelantan someday, remember not to miss this out!

Let us introduce this delicious jelly dessert which Penangites called Ogio, or know as Ai Yu Ping 爱玉冰. Ogio dessert is made of soft jelly with some orange hint, lychee and a small piece of lemon with some mixed sweetener and ice ball.

Selling at Rm 1.30, this dessert is very nice to eat during sunny afternoons.

The van selling Ogio, parked under a tree at the corner of Weld Quay and Gat Lebuh Acheh.
