Food Promotions verdict?
Environment: 9/10
Beautifully decorated with India theme use of painting, carving, well arrange table setting and etc.

Food Presentation: 5/10
Based on my order, the presentation is pretty simple.

Portion: 4/10
The portion is small, especially the fish in the Set Lunch.

Taste: 6/10
I like the tandoori chicken the most. Others, is just ordinary.

Service: 3/10
The waiters kept pushing us to order causing reverse effect. It would be better to recommend the best seller, to make the customers feel like wanting to try out more.

Value for money: 5/10
For current promotion, there is slight reduction of price and a complimentary drink.

OVERALL
I would recommend to try out the ala carte rather then the set meal.

[Invited Review] Sticks Fire Bistro: Hawaii in Penang

Posted by Food Promotions On Thursday, February 11, 2010 0 comments
"Island... SeaBreeze... Beaches... Romance... Gastronomical Delights... Celebrations..." Aloha!

When asked why Jerry wanted to set up Sticks, his answer was "My challenge and vision is to create a beautiful place in Penang, that locals and tourists can be proud of without having to pay an arm and leg for".

If you have visited Sticks, you couldn't agree more with us that this place do have a postcard look. It is nicely renovated to have nice touch of Hawaii.

Sticks is located outside Queensbay Mall where you can enjoy the sea breeze at night. Diners can choose between dining al-fresco or the air-conditioned area. It is undeniable that this place was set up with a lot of cost, but the price of the food was definitely affordable.

Last weekend, we are invited to try out their newly launched set meals. In Sticks, the concept is serving fusion food, so be ready to get the best of Local, Western, and a mixture of Japanese and Korean food.

Two of their signature drinks that we are introduced to were the Lemongrass and Tamarind. Both of these, RM 3.90 each can be only found in Sticks, a drink to quench your thirst in our Malaysian hot weather.

Tamarind with Longan RM 3.90
The homemade Tamarind drink is sour, sweet with a slight bitter after taste. Many customers and mostly girls like it.

IMG_7318 copy
Lemongrass RM 3.90
The Lemongrass on the other hand, is a mixture of lemongrass juice and tea, tasted very much like lemon tea, but with lemongrass instead of lemon.

IMG_7356 copy
Homemade Mushroom Soup RM 5.80
The mushroom soup is made with blended real mushroom and served together with freshly made croutons.

For budget lunch, Sticks is having a new Lunch Set Menu which only cost you RM 13.80+ and if you are reading this, you will get an additional 20% off! The main dish comes with a bowl of soup, vegetables and a drink.

In Sticks, they always come out with new ideas to improve their current menu while maintaining the old signature dishes. The next is the dish we had comes from the Grill Set.

IMG_7437 copy
Tender NZ Lamb Ribs RM 19.80
Comes with pasta, TaroHam Rice, slaw, pickle and sauce, the lamb ribs is braised and grilled for a little greasy but wonderful taste.

IMG_7485 copy
Tempura Seafood Cocktail RM 5.80
Other delicious snacks are also served, depending on your taste buds at only RM 19.80 for 4 choices of appetizers.

Sticking to their tropical concept, Sticks also offer unique cocktails such as Cocokaka, a mixture of coconut water, vodka and etc.

CocoKaka RM 23.00

Besides serving food, the bistro is great for drink at night as well. It has been a month since Sticks started their operation here and we are impressed on the growth rate of this new bistro.

For us, it was a good place that we will want to recommend to our friends. Wi-Fi and Astro is also available for all customers, a good spot to hang out for the nights.

Restaurant Seafood Wan Ling

Kuala Gula is a fishing village located along the coast of Perak, approximately 50 km south west of Taiping. During my recent trip to Taiping we stopped by Kuala Gula for a seafood dinner at Restaurant Seafood Wan Ling.

This restaurant was recommended by a colleague of mine, saying that it was good because of the freshness of the food. If you notice the surrounding of this restaurant, it is indeed showing the view of a typical fishing village.

Among the dishes we have ordered for our dinner are:

Around Kuala Gula, there is also a popular bird watching destination that you might want to visit, the Kuala Gula Bird Sanctuary.

It was an enjoyable dinner with good food and at good price. My overall dining experience was good and will definitely go back again.
